I have read the regulations about the overhang at the front and back of your car. I have a short car (modern mini) and have worked out that the longest kayak I can fit on the roof is approximately 14 feet (using the regulations). Sea cannoes start at about 15 feet and are usually longer. I have an eye on a plastic (financial considerations) sea kayak over 16 feet although I need to try out a few alternatives and spend a lot more time on the water first. Is anyone using a sea kayak at roughly 14 feet? Alternatively is anyone carrying a kayak longer than this on an equivalent car? What are the options for someone with a short car I would be keen to able to move the kayak on my own when needed?
I did not find the right solution from the Internet.
